Amanda Marie Johnson was born and raised in Valrico, Florida. She’s now surrounded by mountains with her husband and three children in Ogden, Utah. She attended Weber State University and graduated with her A.S.N. She is a full-time registered nurse and works on the mother/newborn unit. I nod, grab my purse and step out of the car. As I lock my car I turn around and come face to face with a very large, intimidating, but gorgeous man. What is it with the men around here?

“Um, hello?”

“Ryker!” I watch as Liz goes rushing around the car to greet the man towering over me.

“Good evening pet, forgoing protocol for the evening?” He smiles, pulling her into a hug. I watch as he whispers something in her ear, but I can’t hear what it is. When he lets her go, she’s blushing. Liz never blushes! I’m going to be asking her what that was about sometime later when we’re alone.

“Are you going to introduce me to your friend?”

“Of course, I’m sorry, Isabella this is Ryker. Ryker, this is Izzy my best friend.” I hold my hand out and his easily engulfs mine.

“Ahh, so this is your backup or reinforcement.”

“No, no backup, just a friend keeping a friend company for the evening.”

He steps closer to me, “And what will you do when that one friend is otherwise occupied for a better portion of the evening.”

I swallow, “Then the other friend will find a way to occupy herself, she’s not a child nor does she need to have a baby-sitter. She also doesn’t care to talk about herself in the third person anymore. As long as my friend is happy and safe, that is all that matters.” I stand up straight, pull my hand from his and fold my arms across my chest.

I turn to see Liz holding back a laugh and when I look back at Ryker, he’s trying just as hard not to grin.

Ivy Love

I’m currently held up in Sin City aka Las Vegas. When I’m not writing, I’m working in the legal field or playing with my four, yes, four dogs.

When I was in grade school, I was your classic nerd. I spent more time reading books “above my grade level” and getting lost in them, than paying attention to the people around me. I loved the journey each book would take me on, I still do. When I was thirteen I picked up a pencil and wrote my first hundred page story. It was then I fell in love with writing. That moment I realized that I could not only lose myself in books, but in my own words.
I currently have several works in progress, but this is the first time I’ve ever decided to share something. Thanks to some serious encouragement from some amazing authors and friends, I’m taking the leap.

Sawyer was the first person to not define me by my parents’ deaths. My past felt so far away when I was with him. I could let it go. Let them go. My parents’ faces haunted me every night since that day twelve years ago. I was ready to set the memory free. I felt loved and I wanted him to feel the same. His childhood was dark and I wanted to shed light onto him, fill his heart with the white light of love, evicting the blackness that I saw flash across his eyes when he thought deeply to himself. I wanted him to get better with me. This was crazy. This man, this idea, this night. I loved him and whatever demons he had, my heart was ready to move on to something better, and that was Sawyer.

His breathing became even and I chanced a look at his face. His dark eyelashes fanned down. He looked like an arc angel. I situated myself on my side so that my body rested against his. I placed my head on his shoulder and kissed his cheek.

“I love you, too,” I whispered touching the skin of his cheek with my lips. “I do.”

His breathing stopped and I recognized when I looked up that he would be awake. I lifted up on my forearm and we watched each other in a deep silence.
